The collection of biological fluids onto filter paper has been used for analytical testing for nearly 100 years1. In the 1960s, Robert Guthrie popularized the use of blood collected onto filter paper, today called Dried Blood Spots. Since then this technique has been used for analysis in a wide range of biochemical and genetic analyses.

Small Volume. Massive Impact.

Dried Blood Spot (DBS) cards are ideal for blood sample collection because:

  • Only a small amount of blood is needed
  • Sample collection is fast and easy
  • DBS cards are easy to store and ship

We are experts in the use of dried blood spot technology, and its possibilities to support easy and fast sample collection, transportation, and storage.

Sample collection using DBS

Collecting Dried Blood Spot samples for adults and children is simple, usually, only a few drops of blood are needed from a fingertip. For the littlest of patients, newborn babies, collection from the heel is performed (for Newborn Screening only).
