We are happy to inform you that we have introduced a new diagnostic assay for the analysis of lysosomal enzyme activities from Dried Blood Spots using Clinical Mass Spectrometry. This new assay will enable us faster turn-around times.
The assay was fully validated, and approved and accredited* according to ISO 15189.
Please note that the cut-offs will change as follows:
Enzyme |
old cut-off |
new |
a-Galactosidase A for Fabry disease acid a-1,4-Glucosidase for Pompe disease acid Sphingomyelinase for Niemann-Pick A/B disease (ASMD) ß-Glucocerebrosidase for Gaucher disease |
>1.2 µmol/L/h >3.3 µmol/L/h >0.9 µmol/L/h
>2.5 µmol/L/h |
>2.8 µmol/L/h >2.0 µmol/L/h >1.2 µmol/L/h
>1.5 µmol/L/h

General information for you: The measurement of an enzyme activity and its cut-off is depending on substrates used, incubation temperature and time, and may differ from assay to assay, and lab to lab.
